# Squarehead Technology

> Squarehead Technology, who celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2024, is a global leader in directional microphone technology. The company was founded by three physics students at the University of Oslo who were intrigued by underwater sound waves. They came up with the idea of a microphone capable of separating intelligible sound from noise. Two decades later, Squarehead has grown into a team of 70 employees who develop, design, manufacture, and sell advanced microphone arrays.Through the “digitalization of human hearing”, we enhance situational awareness in industrial and security sectors. Our solutions—ranging from drone detection and condition monitoring to quality control—play a vital role in safeguarding critical infrastructure and assets.Squarehead is headquartered in central Nydalen, Oslo, with a subsidiary in the United States and sales representatives stationed across the globe. All development and production take place in Nydalen, fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment. Being close to the final products means that challenges are solved together, across disciplines and expertise.
